The Guernsey Botanical Trust
The trust was formed in 2006 with its initial purpose the restoration Saumarez Park's Victorian walled garden as a charitable and voluntary project.
The garden had been part of the de Saumarez family's private estate, which was acquired by the States of Guernsey following the death of the fourth Lord de Saumarez in 1937. While the park itself has been substantially used for public purposes, the walled garden fell into a state of disuse and disrepair over the years.

Volunteer Gardeners work in the Garden on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, preparing, sowing, weeding and cropping the vegetable and flower beds. It is hoped to expand this activity during 2010.

flowering bulbs imported around 1897 and another of 19c. clematis.

Societe Guernesiese
La Société Guernesiaise was founded in 1882 to encourage the study of the history, natural history, geography and geology of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the conservation of the Bailiwick’s natural environment and the preservation of its historic buildings and monuments. In many respects, La Société Guernesiaise is similar to the UK Wildlife Trusts. However, its activities extend into many other areas, including history, archaeology and astronomy.
La Société fulfils a valuable role by providing advice to States of Guernsey Departments and answers questions about the Bailiwick from individuals and institutions worldwide.
La Société also runs the Guernsey Biological Records Centre which was founded in January 2003. It is a partnership between the States of Guernsey, Environment Department and La Société Guernesiaise through its environmental consultancy company Guernsey Environmental Services Ltd. It holds biological data primarily for the Bailiwick of Guernsey, but with some from the Bailiwick of Jersey, the Chausey Islands and the adjacent French coast.

Guernsey Smallholders
The Guernsey Smallholders group is a practical and social club which forms a network of people who can offer each other advice, support & help and which also facilitates the exchange of produce, skills and ideas.

The club holds social events & meetings with speakers based on topics of interest to our members, and  hope to run practical courses in the future.

Most of the members run their holdings as a hobby with the added bonus of producing much of their own food, some, however, are much more commercial, and rely on their produce to make a living.

Club members keep a variety of livestock, including sheep, goats, pigs, cattle, as well as bees for honey and all types of poultry and fowl.  Most members also grow their own vegetables and fruit.
