27th September  7-9pm at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts

‘Maximum Flavour, Minimum Labour’

A talk by TV presenter, author and Botanist - James Wong

Want to double the sweetness of your homegrown tomatoes, yet halve the work? With the right, scientifically-proven, growing techniques you really can have your cake and eat it. In a sneak preview to James Wong’s new RHS book, this talk is a foodie’s guide to measurably improving the flavour & nutrition of homegrown crops, using cutting-edge techniques that are positively easier than conventional gardening rules.

From sweetcorn with 10 times the sugar, blueberries with 4 times the antioxidants & strawberries with over 7 times the aroma, James will be revealing exactly what to do to supercharge the flavour in a wide range of conventional crops using unconventional methods.

This talk is hosted by George Garnett, a 15 year old aspiring botanist as part of his fundraising campaign to visit the Amazon Rainforest. In addition to funding his trip, George hopes to raise a donation for the Crees Foundation, http://www.crees-manu.org/  who aim to support a sustainable Amazon by empowering the local community through agroforestry projects.

To quote Crees, ‘It’s about collaboration’, George would like to thank all of his many plant loving supporters. In particular; Floral Guernsey, The Rotary Club of Guernsey, The Old Elizabethan Association and The Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Finally, special thanks to James Wong for being such an inspirational mentor and fellow plant geek!
