Guernsey in Bloom Community Awards

Friday 2nd June 2023

Hooray! It’s the Guernsey in Bloom Community Awards!

Floral Guernsey Chairman, John Woodward

One of the highlights of the Floral Guernsey calendar is our annual Guernsey in Bloom community awards. There have been so many wonderful entries over the years and we look forward to another bouquet of fantastic projects from individuals and groups, all competing for the coveted prizes and possibly a future entry into the Britain in Bloom Competition.

The Bailiwick is beautiful, and with the help of our many volunteers and competition entrants, Floral Guernsey’s aim is to create islands of flowers. We want you to take part and be recognised and rewarded for your passion, commitment, and ingenuity in creating wonderful gardens or displays.

Our judges will be interested in horticultural achievement, or how you use plants to create enhancements for decoration and/or for environmental benefits.  We believe that every plant nurtured and maintained helps improve our environment and don’t worry! We are not expecting the Chelsea Flower Show!

Judges will also be looking at the preservation of biodiverse habitats and the promotion of practices that help protect wildlife.  Community participation is an important factor too as we can all play a part in creating an environment which we are proud to call home.  Focussing on plants is a great way to get people together and is proven to enhance mental wellbeing.

All entrants will receive an invitation to our Award Evening at Les Cotils, Thursday 7th September and trophies will be presented to the overall winners in each category.

Judging will be in the first week of July.  You will be informed of the date and time in advance. Closing date for entries is 10th June.

Please let [email protected]  know which categories (See below) you would like to enter.
